By 2050, our energy supply needs to be free of fossil fuels and climate neutral. Offshore wind energy is one of the most important pillars of our climate policy – it will contribute to the Dutch energy system with 21 GW installed by 2030, which will supply around 75% of our national electricity needs. The build out of offshore wind will continue after that to achieve our 2050 goal and plans are already being developed for the period towards 2040 and 2050. Key questions need to be addressed when developing these plans: What will the energy system look like? How will offshore wind farms be spatially integrated on the North Sea? How can the energy generated best be brought to shore?
There are several programmes looking into these questions (on different levels):

  • –  VAWOZ 2031-2040 programme (energy landing)
  • –  Partial revision of the North Sea Programme (spatial planning)
  • –  Energy Infrastructure Plan North Sea 2050 (energy system)The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy (EZK) and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management (IenW) are organising a webinar to explain and discuss these plans. This webinar will be held on 14 February between 13:30 – 15:30 CET and will be in Dutch.
The final programme will be sent out in January 2023.
