What is the latest status of wind industry in sustainability and what is needed?
ONLINE event 21st of January 2022 from 10.00 to 12.00 CET.

The Paris agreement, the Green Deal and national policies ask for more sustainable industries with clean energy. Therefore, supported by European and national policies, the wind energy industry is challenged to find ways to upscale its capacity output. In addition, the challenge exists of lowering the carbon and ecological footprints of the wind energy sector, while growing at a significant rate. This, among others, means that circularity and sustainability should be integrated into (business) strategies and working methods in the wind energy industry and be supported by policy measures which provides level playing field.

The road towards successful energy transition, which takes into account high level of sustainability, requires collaboration between industry, academia and policy makers.

In 2021 we have been collaborating with over 150 stakeholders across the value chain of wind industry inside the community of Circular Wind Hub with a clear focus to increase and accelerate circularity and sustainability in wind industry. We are proud to present to you the latest information and the OUTCOMES of last year’s three working groups:

  • Knowledge hub: Where is the research focused on and where are the unknowns?
  • Industry hub: Which practical demonstration projects are needed next?
  • Policy hub: Which policy changes does the industry see the most necessary?

Additionally we will discuss about the next phase: What do we see in the horizon?

As Mrs. Kadri Simson, European Commissioner for Energy, stated at the Circular Wind Hub: “The circular economy is a key element of the European Green Deal. Circularity is also important for how we generate wind power. While the energy is renewable, the wind turbines are not. Not yet. Working together across the entire value chain is crucial. We need collaboration between stakeholders, public and private. In Europe and beyond. Let us take the next steps together!”
