You play an important role in the offshore wind ecosystem in the Netherlands. Therefore the North Sea ReViFES and The Rich North Sea would like to invite you to our first webinar of 2023. On January 19th, we discuss the duty for decommissioning of wind farms in the North Sea. Registration for this webinar is now open. Register for free via this link. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

About the webinar
Together with ecologists, researchers, lawyers, professionals from the offshore wind sector and hopefully you, we will zoom in on the duty of decommissioning. Within the next five years the first wind farms need to be removed from the North Sea. That is why we dive into the topic. We do this from an ecological, legal and economic perspective and discuss the impact of decommissioning on nature, the value of the nature created in wind farms and circumstances that would allow for ‘leaving certain structures behind’.

Chris Backes, Professor at Utrecht University, Centre for Water, Oceans and Sustainability Law, Alex Oude Elferink, Director of the Netherlands Institute for the Law of the Sea and Joop Coolen, marine biologist specialized in the ecology of natural reefs, coastal defences, ship wrecks and offshore installations such as oil & gas platforms and wind farms in the North Sea and Matthew Geraghty, founder and ReWind venture lead at DNV, will present background facts as the starting point for an interactive discussion with you. Host of the webinar will be Henk Nieboer, interim-director of the Netherlands Water Partnership and owner of Adealta. We hope to see you the 19th of January!
